(MyFantasyLeague.com Fantasy Times Sources - Dec 28, 2009) In a week 16 Sudden Death Fantasy Football League matchup, St Bernard Destroyers squeaked by a tough Thoroughbreds team by a score of 889 to 860, silencing a partisan crowd of 69,555.
St Bernard Destroyers were led to their 29 point CHAMPIONSHIP victory by a 421 point effort from Tom Brady, who got by the Jacksonville Jaguars defense for 267 passing yards and 4 passing TDs in addition to 4 rushing yards. With this performance, Brady was the number 5 ranked overall fantasy scorer for week 16. They also got help from a 161 point effort from the Philadelphia Eagles Defensive Team.
"This team has finally learned how to win," St Bernard Destroyers coach Paul said.
Thoroughbreds were helped out in a losing cause by a 265 point effort from the Denver Broncos Defensive Team. They also got help from a 139 point effort from Vince Young, who snuck past the San Diego Chargers defense for 89 passing yards in addition to 40 rushing yards.
"It's going to be a long plane ride home," Thoroughbreds coach John Pepis and Glenn Brathbury said.
Compounding the issue, Thoroughbreds could have scored 1193 points and earned the win with their best lineup, but John Pepis and Glenn Brathbury left key players like Chad Henne and his corresponding 407 points on the bench.
St Bernard Destroyers took advantage of their schedule this week, as their point total would have gone for a loss against 11 out of 12 other potential opponents in week 16.
